The Freedom to Serve

We celebrated the 4th, and it occurred to me that we are soooo blessed to be able to serve others in our midst. We’re blessed with surplus, yes, but blessed to be able to form connections like these without interference.

“Liberty means responsibility. That is why most men dread it.”

George Bernard Shaw, Man and Superman.

What is so often missing in our society today is the realization that is incumbent upon us all to serve the least among us. If a chain is as strong as its weakest link, our community is as strong as the most vulnerable within its borders. I find it a privilege to serve with others who don’t wait for someone else to meet the need, but who step up to lend a helping hand.

I’d like to challenge each of us to include others in our service. Share what you do among friends, neighbors and family members. Invite other to participate. As service grows, I promise you will see a brighter, more friendly landscape within our community.

These aren’t just words. We crave actions within our fellowship. We seek those who want to make a difference, those willing to look beyond a bloated lifestyle and are willing to carve a niche for the suffering of others within our midst. No one is being asked to become Mother Teresa, but rather to serve a little so that great might be the harvest of our efforts.

We invite you to join us!
